Albino Rocca - Cohesion over generations

The story of this extraordinary winery began in the mid-1940s with Albino Rocca. He founded the winery and began selling his grapes to larger wineries in the area. Only much later did he decide to press his own wine from the grapes and sell it in demijohns.

But it was not until 1955 that Albino Rocca founded the winery and, together with his father Giacomo, began bottling wines made from grapes grown in their own vineyards in Barbaresco. Until then, the family had sold the berries to the cooperatives, keeping only a small portion for their own use.

Family roots and top wines in Barbaresco

But it took until 1971 before the family released its first Barbaresco, called Albino Rocca. In the meantime, Albino's son Angelo had started working for the company at the age of just 15.

Angelo Rocca: an environmentalist and visionary

The young Angelo's path was set by a trip to France in the 1980s with other producers from the Barolo and Barbaresco area. He returned from the trip determined to improve the quality of his Barbaresco wines. Many of the measures Angelo took to permanently bring the Barbresco way to a higher level of quality were too radical for many of the other winemakers in the Langhe. Angelo was a true pioneer and visionary in the management of his vineyards. Back in the early nineties, he converted the vineyards and began integrated viticulture.

His three daughters Daniela, Monica and Paola and son-in-law Carlo, took over the management of the family business after the sudden death of their father in 2012 and over the years have achieved international status. The legendary Angelo then led the winery to new heights and laid the foundation for a successful future. His influence is still felt today, even after his tragic death.

Today, Albino Rocca is one of the most renowned wineries in Barbaresco. The three sisters continue the work of their unforgotten father, Albino, and have taken the winery to new heights.
