  • The vineyards that Guido Porro owns on the Lazzarito vineyard, Lazzaraisco and Santa Caterina, are located in the upper part of the slope, with the Santa Catarina site bordering directly on the winery itself and consisting of 40-60 year old vines. The soil composition of the two sites is absolutely identical, but the location and altitude within the vineyard differ, which leads to different Barolo wines. The Barolo Santa Catarina wines are characterized by particular elegance and complexity.

    The grapes are usually hand-picked in October and only the best grapes are used for further processing. After light pressing and destemming, fermentation is spontaneously triggered by local yeasts in cement and stainless steel tanks. The wine is then transferred to stainless steel containers for stabilization, where it is stored with the cellar windows open during the winter. The subsequent maturation takes place in 25-hl oak barrels from Slovenia and lasts 36 months. The Barolo is then bottled unfiltered and is then released onto the market after six months of bottle storage.

    On the nose, this Barolo shows fine and pleasant floral scents with a hint of rose and liquorice. Balance and harmony dominate the taste. The lively and fine tannin gives the Barolo sustainability and structure. This wine impresses with its great elegance and expressiveness.

    The Guido Porro winery is located in the municipality of Serralunga D'Alba, in the famous wine-growing region of the Langhe. The winery has a long history and has been run by the Porro family for generations. Although Guido Porro has made a name for himself among wine lovers worldwide for high-quality Barolo single-vineyard wines, this small winery is still considered an insider tip. Guido Porro attaches great importance to the care of the vineyards and works with great care to produce high-quality grapes. The vines for Barolo grow in the region's best locations, and the vinification and storage takes place in large oak barrels to develop the wine's characteristic aromas and structure. Each wine reflects the unique characteristics of the terroir and the Porro family's passion for high quality wines.

    This Barolo is at its best when served with red meat, especially game, steak and dishes with truffles. It also goes excellently with meat sauce, risotto and medium-ripened cheese made from cow's and goat's milk.
