Wine plus: "Firmly woven and grippy fruit with bite and firm tannins, somewhat spicy on the palate, persistent, good depth, certain freshness, very good, firm, juicy and spicy finish. Outstanding Barolo"
Since 1961, the Deltetto family has been producing a Barolo single-vineyard wine made from Nebbiolo grapes from Cru`s Parussi from the municipality of Castiglione Falletto. Thanks to the father Antonio of the current owner Carlo, the Cantina Deltetto in Canale, which is outside the Barolo area, received one of the few permits to produce their Barolo there. Today, however, these permissions are no longer granted.
The grapes for this Deltetto Barolo Parussi 2014 are harvested by hand at the beginning of October and carefully selected for further processing. After the grapes have been transported to the winery in Canale, they are de-stemmed and lightly pressed and then fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The expansion takes place over 24 months in large oak barrels and then a 1-year bottle storage takes place before the Barolo goes on sale.
This Barolo Parussi has a slightly berry, peppery scent with red and black berry aromas. Its elegance, structure and density impress on the palate. The tannins are grippy and well balanced, and the rich, spicy finish has good depth. The Barolo is ready to drink immediately and the next 15 years. A wonderful accompaniment to game, roasts, red meat and mature cheeses.
